Award category definitions
NAD Golden Hand Award: OAD/NAD recognizes outstanding individual or groups who have demonstrated exemplary volunteer service efforts to better the lives of deaf and hard of hearing people in your state attributing significantly to the quality of life of the deaf and hard of hearing people in the state.
Volunteer Service Award: OAD recognizes an outstanding individual who has given freely of her/his time beyond normal working hours in a non-paid capacity towards activities benefiting the deaf community in Oklahoma.
Corporate Service Award: OAD recognizes an individual or as an organization in Oklahoma which has rendered exceptional services or products without reimbursement to better the lives of deaf and hard of hearing people.
Educational Award: OAD recognizes an organization in Oklahoma who has rendered meritous and exceptional service to the deaf children of
Oklahoma in the field of the education of the deaf.
Employment Award: OAD recognizes a corporation in Oklahoma which has rendered exceptional services in training and/or hiring of deaf people of a communication accessible workplace.
Circle of Star Award: OAD recognizes an individual whose exemplary service is unnoticed and not adequately appreciated on a whole by the community.
Community Access Award: OAD recognizes a community organization in Oklahoma which has rendered an accommodation access for the deaf and hard of hearing individuals at the high school football games.
W.T. (Ted) Griffing Distinguished Service Award:
To an individual whose efforts on behalf of the deaf people of Oklahoma are considered to be above and beyond the call of duty and resulting in contributing significantly to the quality of life of the deaf people in the state.
